Advanced Generator Protection System
- The SEL-400G is a state-of-the-art protection system designed for all types of generators, including hydro, pumped-storage, large steam turbines, and combustion gas turbines (CGT). This device integrates generator protection, generator step-up (GSU) transformer protection, autosynchronizing, and disturbance recording into a single processor. With 18 current inputs and 6 voltage inputs, it supports flexible protection schemes for complex system configurations and provides reliable protection from startup to normal operation.

Dual Universal Differential Zones
Provides two independent differential protection zones, allowing the protection of both the generator and the GSU transformer within a single device. -
Wide-Range Frequency Tracking
Supports a broad frequency tracking range from 5 Hz to 120 Hz to maintain dependable protection during generator startup or variable-speed operations (e.g., pumped storage). -
100% Stator Ground Protection
Combines neutral overvoltage (59N) and third-harmonic voltage elements to protect the entire stator winding without blind spots. -
Advanced Protection Algorithms
Turn-to-Turn Fault Detection: Detects sensitive internal short-circuit faults within generator windings.
Current Unbalance Protection (46): Prevents rotor heating caused by unbalanced loads.
Out-of-Step Protection (78): Protects equipment by detecting loss of synchronism between the generator and the grid.
Phase Distance Protection (21): Provides backup protection for the generator and adjacent lines. -
Precision Metering and Monitoring
High-Accuracy Metering: Precisely measures voltage, current, power (MW, MVAR), energy (MWh), and frequency.
Synchrophasors: Supports wide-area monitoring with IEEE C37.118-compliant phasor measurement data.
Condition Monitoring: Includes monitoring for breaker contact wear and station battery voltage.
