SEL-T400L
Time-Domain Line Protection
- The SEL-T400L is a state-of-the-art time-domain line protective relay that applies traveling-wave and incremental-quantity protection technology. It is designed to operate within just a few milliseconds under a wide range of fault and system conditions. Simplified to allow operation with only a handful of settings, it is an innovative solution that integrates high-resolution event recording with high-accuracy fault locating, typically within a single tower span.
Key Features
-
Ultra-High-Speed Protection Schemes
Traveling-Wave Differential (TW87): Trips faults in 1–5 ms (depending on line length) over a point-to-point fiber-optic channel.
Incremental-Quantity Distance (TD21): Provides Zone 1 protection that operates in 2–5 ms without requiring a communication channel.
POTT Scheme Support: Uses traveling-wave (TW32) and incremental-quantity (TD32) directional elements to determine direction in 0.1–3 ms for ultra-high-speed tripping over standard teleprotection channels. -
High-Accuracy Traveling-Wave Fault Locating (TWFL)
Pinpoints fault locations within a single tower span using traveling waves, with or without a communication channel, maximizing restoration efficiency. -
Versatile Application
Operates reliably in complex transmission environments, including single-pole tripping, series-compensated lines, and dual-breaker terminals. -
Ultra-High-Resolution Recording
Enables precise analysis of system transients through a 1 MHz fault recorder and Fast Time-Domain Values (FTDV) streaming.
Convenience features
-
Operational Simplicity
Dramatically reduces engineering and commissioning time with preconfigured protection logic and a minimal set of settings. -
High-Performance Communication Interfaces
1 Gbps Ethernet and Differential Port: Features 1 Gbps optical ports for ultra-high-speed data transmission and direct connections up to 200 km.
Diverse Serial Communications: Includes three optical serial ports supporting MIRRORED BITS and IEEE C37.94. -
High-Speed Control Outputs
Maximizes trip execution speed with high-speed, high-current interrupting Form A outputs that have a response time of less than 10 µs. -
Precise Time Synchronization
Supports demodulated IRIG-B time input to ensure accurate time-series analysis of fault data.
