SEL-2488
Satellite-Synchronized Network Clock
- The SEL-2488 is an industry-leading, high-precision time synchronization device designed to meet the demanding requirements of power utilities and industrial environments. It receives GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) signals to generate precise time and distributes it through various standard protocols such as IRIG-B, PTP, and NTP. This solution is specifically optimized for applications requiring nanosecond-level accuracy, such as synchrophasors, IEC 61850-9-2 Sampled Values (SV), and traveling-wave fault locating.
Key Features
-
Ultra-High Time Accuracy
Provides exceptionally precise time synchronization performance within an average of 40ns and a peak of 100ns relative to UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). -
Broad Output Protocol Support
IRIG-B: Supports up to 9 demodulated and 4 modulated outputs.
PTP (IEEE 1588): Supports Power System (C37.238) and Power Utility (61850-9-3) profiles.
NTP: Acts as a Stratum 1 time server to distribute time to clients in a LAN environment. -
Satellite Signal Security and Validation
Uses Satellite Signal Verification technology to protect the system against cyber threats and signal disruptions such as GPS spoofing and jamming. -
High-Stability Holdover
Operates reliably even when satellite signals are unavailable, maintaining an error of less than 2.5us after 24 hours using the internal oscillator (TCXO or optional OCXO). -
Enhanced Network Availability
Implements Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) and port bonding technologies to ensure seamless time synchronization even during Ethernet network failures. -
Industry Standards Compliance
Features a rugged hardware design that meets IEEE 1613 and IEC 61850-3 standards to withstand harsh substation environments.
Convenience features
-
Intuitive Web Interface
Allows for easy remote configuration and monitoring via a secure HTTPS web connection without the need for additional software. -
On-Site Status Verification
The front-panel LCD screen, status LEDs, and lamp test button allow for immediate on-site verification of device operation and time information. -
Flexible Power Supply
Supports a wide range of voltages (24–48 Vdc, 125–250 Vdc/Vac) and offers an optional redundant power supply for increased availability. -
Various Output Contacts
Provides a Form C alarm contact for system failures and a Form A timer contact with 1us accuracy for easy integration with external devices.
