SEL-2506
Rack-Mount Remote I/O Module
- The SEL-2506 Rack-Mount Remote I/O Module is designed to securely and efficiently transmit digital contact signals in substation and industrial environments. Using MIRRORED BITS® communications technology, the device exchanges real-time trip, close, and monitoring data between remote units. It provides a solution that significantly enhances system safety and reliability by replacing complex traditional copper wiring with fiber-optic cables.
Key Features
-
MIRRORED BITS Communications
Remotely transmits and controls contact status using eight transmit and eight receive bits over a single fiber-optic or serial port. -
High Performance and Fast Response
Provides eight digital inputs and eight contact outputs, supporting operating speeds of less than 5 ms for standard models and less than 200 µs for high-speed models. -
Rugged Environmental Durability
Operates reliably in a wide temperature range from -40°C ~ +85°C and features a robust hardware design that exceeds IEEE C37.90 and IEC 60255 protective relay standards. -
Communications Monitoring
Monitors fiber-optic control cables in real-time for damage, disturbance, or alterations, and immediately triggers an alarm if an anomaly is detected. -
Coil Monitoring Capability
Includes the ability to monitor the status of trip and close coils locally or remotely, strengthening the overall reliability of the protection system.
Convenience features
-
Improved Safety
Protects personnel by using nonconductive fiber-optic cables instead of copper wiring, thereby eliminating paths for dangerous voltages to enter from outside cabinets. -
Cost and Labor Savings
Replaces 32 large-diameter copper wires with just two optical fibers, significantly reducing material costs and the labor required for installation. -
Standard Rack-Mount Design
Features a form factor suitable for installation in standard 19-inch racks, allowing for easy integration into existing control systems and panels. -
Intuitive Diagnostics
Front-panel LED indicators display the status of each input/output, as well as alarm and loop status, allowing for at-a-glance verification of device operation. -
Lamp Test Function
A front-panel Lamp Test button allows users to easily verify that all LED indicators are functioning correctly.
